Saturday 24 April
DF 2004 is dedicated to Fabrizio Usberti aka Sinapsi/DJ Kalapodis, veteran mastermind behind Link, Distorsonie and the whole electronic Italian scene, who recently disappeared in a tragic incident. In his honour there will be a live act on Saturday 24 at midnight. It will involve several people and be inspired by the sounds made by sewing machines with which Usberti used to produce his fashion lines. Participating will be: sound-mixmaster Alessandro Bocci from the group Sinistri, Mike Dredd (Rephlex Records UK), Strek vs Atzmo (Betulla Records, I) William di Apocalypse (FR), followed by Mauro Stabile (I) from Genoasubculture (Yahoo Group) with the last "unfinished" pieces that he worked on together with Usberti.
In 2004 Final Frontier celebrates its tenth anniversary along with Link. To mark the occasion, that evening FF will showcase some of its most representative artists. They will be accompanied by American DJ and producer Mike Banks, central figure in the Detroit production network Underground Resistence. "Mad" Mike will be in concert on Saturday 24 April, together with his project UR Timeline (Friday 23 he will play at Agatha, c/o Rome's Brancaleone www.brancaleone.it ,) and accompanied by his friend and UR-co-founder Jeff Mills (Axis records USA), in Italy to introduce their latest work, "The Exhibitionist" (DVD produced by React Records and distributed by Audioglobe). DF 2004 will be their third world appearance, a national exclusive at Bologna's Link, following shows in Tokyo and Paris.
In Link's Hangar space Marco Passarani will open proceedings with a dj set, along with a live act by Mat 101. Next up will be a live set by Mike Banks who will present his Timeline project along with musicians Gerald Mitchell, Raphael Merriwaters , Danny Caballero and Santiago Salazar and accompanied by an Italian saxophonist. Jeff Mills will end the night, along with the definitive dj-set from Andrea Benedetti . In the remaining rooms, the following will appear: I:Cube from the Parisian label Versatile Records, at DF thanks to Dancity Bo; an Apocalypse Records showcase with A.P.P.A.R.T, electro successors to the Gotan Project; Scratchaker Axium rec. live; Chelou; Bemuzac projects accompanied by Italians Touch Responses. From the Italian scene, selected from the "Electronic Cities" project, there will be Mauro Stabile and Mass Production from Genoa; Scribe (live) from Naples - prodigal brother of the famous Miele; Teaz Records from Puglia; Volcov and Drama Society (Baldini-Ricciardone); world-acclaimed selectors from the pre-European Piemont-Venetian-Lombard areas of Italy. It is also from this area that the Trieste collective Electrosacher
comes from, who will open the evening with Live for a Friend, a set performed by Chelou and Alessando Bocci-Sinistri (at the mixer) in the memory of Fabrizio Usberti-Sinapsi.
